Wall Sweep Visibility Control

When you have Wall Sweeps in your model, by default they can be a little problematic to hide in your views without having to resort to ‘Hide in View’ > ‘Element’. (Which is a very undesirable work practice, so don’t even think about it!)

The problem occurs because there is no Wall Sweep Category and Revit, by default doesn’t have a Wall Sweep subcategory under the walls.

The solution is to create a Wall Subcategory manually. Go to the Manage ribbon and Select the ‘Object Style’ tool. This will bring up all of the Object Styles currently loaded into your project.

Create a new Subcategory under walls, and use the name that best describes the wall sweep you are using.

In this example I am going to create a ‘Chair Rail’ Subcategory. Ensure you adjust the Line Weights accordingly.

The next step is to select the Wall Sweep in the model and under the ‘Edit Type’ Parameters, there is a ‘Subcategory of Walls’ parameter that you can now select the newly created wall subcategory.

This now gives you the ability to use Visibility Graphics and alter the visibility of the Wall sweep using the subcategory.

It can help if the subcategories are already built into your office template file.
