Copying Arrays

If you have created an array in your drawing and would like to copy it to a new location, it is important to keep the integrity of the array, so that the new array has the same numerical adjustment.

It you just select all of the elements and hit copy the result will be that the new array will be all grouped similar to the original array, it just won’t have the ability to adjust. To keep the integrity of the array, ensure that you select all of the elements in the existing array and also select the array dimension too.

This will ensure the new array will have the ability to adjust.

Temporary Dimension Appearance

If you are not happy with the appearance of your temporary dimensions in Revit you can adjust them, in size and whether they are transparent or opaque.

Under the Revit Application Button, go to Options.














You can increase or decrease the size of your Temporary dimensions. So if your eyesight is going, you can bump it up to a maximum of 20.

The Background will allow you to toggle so the dimension is transparent or opaque.

Addin's Down Under

I have been having a play with the DP-Randomizer addin for a while now and when you are using some of the Addin’s that have been developed in America, because they work in Imperial the units are hard coded into the API. The result is that when we are using them in the southern hemisphere (metric) you get some crazy results and it isn’t enough to just change the units in our project/family.

To get the Addin’s to work properly, a simple conversion parameter formula is required, to get the units set correctly.

A couple of the Addin’s that require this conversion formula are the ‘DP Randomiser’ and the ‘Set Parameter Values from Image Data’

The example below is for setting a height, but this can be adapted for other parameters.

Because the Addin’s are imperial and set in feet, we need to create a parameter that divides the height by 304.8

1 foot = 304.8 millimetres

The ‘Actual Height’ parameter controls the family and the ‘Height’ parameter is controlled by the Addin.
